Platelet Depleted Plasma, Spectra APTT and Factor Assay Sensitivity Evaluation of New Propyl Gallate APTT to Factor Assay Sensitivity with Platelet Depleted Plasma By R Speck, D Bonderman, C Speck and J Griep Nov 15, 1996. Analytical Control Systems, Inc. has developed a new, patented highly sensitive Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) assay. Increased sensitivity to factor assays have been established using this new APTT reagent with platelet depleted plasma (PDP). The following table shows data comparing the new propyl gallate (PG) APTT reagent with the ellagic acid (EA) APTT for Factors II, VIII, Fletcher and Fitzgerald assays using PDP. This assay also shows some increased sensitivity to factors V, IX, X, XI, and XII.
Particularly important was the discovery of this assays sensitivity to Fletcher and Fitzgerald factors since they could not be assayed by other APTT reagents. Below is a plot comparing the sensitivity of the two APTT reagents to Fitzgerald Factor.
